Protected agriculture boosts vitality in Zhangye

As the conclusion of the Spring Festival holiday, employees at a seedling-raising center in Gaotai county, Zhangye, Gansu province, have commenced their vegetable cultivation duties.

Within the confines of the center, an array of vegetable seedlings awaits cultivation, comprising peppers, celery, and tomatoes, poised for propagation across approximately 300,000 substrate trays. Amidst the bustling activity, workers diligently arrange trays, administer water, and replenish seedlings, engrossed in the task at hand.

It is reported that the county has embraced mechanization and intensive seedling-raising technology to enhance the scale, quality, and production efficiency of the local vegetable industry.

Presently, five such centers have emerged, capable of nurturing over 300 million high-quality vegetable seedlings annually, thereby meeting the planting requirements of nearly 20,000 hectares of vegetables within the county.
