Gaotai county in Zhangye, Northwest China's Gansu province is emerging as a powerhouse for new energy equipment manufacturing, capitalizing on its abundant natural resources and strategic location.
Spanning over 2,000 square kilometers of Gobi desert, the county boasts excellent geological conditions and enjoys more than 280 days of effective sunshine each year, making it ideal for harnessing solar energy.
Its unique topography—narrow in the east and wide in the west—also provides superior wind energy resources, perfectly suited for the development of large-scale wind farms.

In the Nanhua Industrial Park of Gaotai county, workers have recently been preparing batches of Shanghai Electric Wind Power (Zhangye) Group Co wind turbine blades for shipment, highlighting the county's bustling industrial activity and growing role in the renewable energy supply chain.
As of now, Gaotai has installed 1.717 million kilowatts of new energy capacity, comprising 717,000 kilowatts of photovoltaic power and 1 million kilowatts of wind power.
Complementing this growth, the county has established a comprehensive industrial cluster that includes the production of wind turbine towers, blades, energy storage systems, PCS inverters, and turbine control systems.
Gaotai is striving to establish itself into a pivotal provincial center, aiming to become a 10-million-kilowatt-class new energy hub and a 10-billion-yuan-level manufacturing base for new energy equipment, thereby fueling sustainable economic growth and supporting China's clean energy transition.
