Zhangye's winter tourism boosts holiday consumption

During the New Year holiday, Zhangye saw a strong boost in tourism and consumption by blending winter scenery with cultural activities.

The city capitalized on its seasonal appeal with a variety of ice and snow events. Traditional games and large bonfire dances at Wenshu Mountain in Sunan Yugur autonomous county attracted many visitors.

The Qilian Mountain International Ski Resort saw daily crowds, while a desert park drew over a thousand people for new year climbing and unique camel sled rides.

Supportive local policies offering free entry to 10 major scenic spots, along with complimentary parking and relaxed traffic enforcement for tourists, helped drive visitation.

Key attractions like the Colorful Danxia Scenic Spot and the ancient Dafo Temple remained popular, promoting combined winter tourism itineraries.

Consumer spending surged with the help of digital shopping vouchers. Supermarket sales rose significantly compared to last year, and dining areas in major malls were consistently packed. Restaurants reported full bookings, and the local film market was boosted by subsidized ticket promotions.
