Zhangye Colorful Danxia selected as Beautiful China travel points

Zhangye Colorful Danxia Scenic Spot has been included in the 2026 China Ecological Culture Forum's 100 Beautiful China travel points. It is one of only two sites in Gansu province to receive the honor.

Located in Linze county and Sunan Yugur autonomous county, the scenic spot spans 50 square kilometers, with a visitor activity zone of 4 square kilometers. It is a UNESCO Global Geopark and a national 5A-level tourist attraction.

The site features seven viewing areas and over 30 scenic landscapes, including colorful hills, Danxia landforms, and Tulin landforms.

In recent years, the scenic spot has prioritized the protection of geological relics while strictly adhering to ecological control limits. Management measures include zoning controls and visitor caps, along with continuous improvements to eco-friendly facilities.

As a vital part of the Qilian Mountain ecological barrier, the site adheres to the philosophy that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets".

Leveraging its unique natural landscapes, it has developed a photography-based cultural tourism industry, organizing annual photo tours for national photographers to promote ecological culture.

Following the selection, Zhangye Colorful Danxia Scenic Spot will take advantage of the national recognition to further explore its ecological and geological heritage, strengthen its ecological foundations, and make use of photo promotions, public tourism activities and more.

It aims to enrich its eco-tourism offerings, support the high-quality development of the province's eco-cultural tourism, and contribute to the building of a beautiful China.
