Zhangye's truss tomatoes shine nationwide

In Jing'an township in Zhangye's Ganzhou district, Gansu province, premium truss tomatoes from modern agricultural greenhouses developed by Zhangye Fenghui Agricultural Development are selling well across China.

Planted on March 29, the fresh fruits have entered peak market season, with daily harvests ranging from three to five metric tons.

The produce is mainly shipped to first-tier cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, directly supplying renowned mid-to-high-end supermarkets including Sam's Club, Freshippo, and Pangdonglai. Total annual output is projected at 1,200 tons.

The facility, covering 50,000 square meters with an investment of 26 million yuan ($3.82 million), employs advanced soilless hanging cultivation systems, intelligent climate control rooms, and integrated water‑fertilizer drip irrigation.

Through scientific and smart management, temperature, humidity, and fertigation are precisely regulated, greatly enhancing fruit quality and yield while maintaining green standardized production throughout.

To further improve quality, the company invested 20 million yuan in a first‑phase upgrade, converting negative‑pressure greenhouses into semi‑closed positive‑pressure ones, adding climate rooms, hanging substrate troughs, ventilation fans, snow‑melting pipes, and a CO2 system.

It also replaced covering films, shading curtains, and ground covers, updated the Hoogendoorn smart control system, and added harvest‑lift vehicles, strengthening the hardware base for intelligent production.

The project is expected to create over 100 stable long‑term jobs after operation, absorbing surplus local labor. Villagers can work near home, earning steady incomes while attending to family needs.
