Zhangye Pavilion impresses at Lanzhou Fair

The 32nd Lanzhou Investment and Trade Fair opened on July 9 at Gansu International Convention and Exhibition Center, drawing large crowds.

The Zhangye Pavilion integrated elements of the Qilian Mountain ranges, Danxia landforms, Gobi Desert, and farmlands into its design.

The pavilion featured four sections: ecological security barrier, comprehensive energy base, modern seed industry hub, and international tourism destination.

The ecological zone displayed a water budget management platform and carbon trading system, with a sand table illustrating surface, ground, and recycled water flows. Wildlife specimens of snow leopards and black storks were also exhibited. Zhangye has been selected as a national pilot city for ecological product value realization.

The energy section showcased electrolyzers, wind turbine models, and photovoltaic materials, highlighting installed and under-construction new energy capacity exceeding 10 gigawatts. Visitors showed strong interest in the "new energy plus" industrial chain, including equipment manufacturing and energy storage.

In the seed industry area, corn seed varieties were displayed with germination rate of 95 percent and purity of 98 percent. Zhangye produces one out of every two corn seeds in China. Zhangye is currently home to more than one million mu (66,666.67 hectares) of vegetable plantations.

The cultural tourism zone featured a dome cinema showing Danxia landforms and grassland scenery. Zhangye attracts over 50 million visitors annually, drawing on its 2,000-year history and the renowned Shandan Horse Ranch as a distinctive cultural attraction.
