Zhangye made a strong impression at SIAL Guangzhou 2026, a major food and beverage trade show in China, which opened on Sept 3.

The city brought over 50 enterprises and 420 products to the event and held a promotional conference for its green and organic agricultural products and processed goods, aiming to expand the national and global reach of Zhangye's agricultural products.

The Zhangye Pavilion bustled with business discussions and product tastings. Zhangye Jinfeng Agricultural Development displayed its whole-cut steaks, emphasizing zero additives and their grain-fed quality, targeting the elderly, children, and fitness-conscious consumers. Having already entered the Shanghai and Qingdao markets, the company next hopes to tap into the Greater Bay Area.

Zhangye Jinmanyuan Agricultural Technology's organic plums and pearl apricot series drew long lines for tastings, with several cooperation agreements signed in the morning.

Minle truss tomatoes, certified by the European Union and boasting an output value of 460,000 yuan per mu ($1.03 million per hectare), impressed the general manager of Top Boutique International from Thailand, who saw strong potential in Southeast Asia.

Zhangye Zhaotian Ecological Agriculture secured a 40-million-yuan order on the first day for its highland summer vegetables.

Located near the 38th parallel north, Zhangye enjoys abundant water resources, sunshine, and favorable temperatures. It is home to the country's largest corn seed base and sixth-largest vegetable supply base. In recent years, the city has shifted its focus from raw material sales to branding and standardization.

A promotional conference drew about 140 attendees, including over 120 global buyers. The event showcased organic vegetables, beef, Gaotai chili, and Minle truss tomatoes. A signing ceremony resulted in 25 agreements — five investment deals and 20 production and supply agreements.
