Zhangye Danxia mascot shines at Asia-Pacific geopark symposium

Zhangye UNESCO Global Geopark, also known as Zhangye Colorful Danxia Scenic Spot, took part in the 9th Asia-Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium held on Sept 9 in Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark, Malaysia.

The symposium gathered experts and practitioners from many countries to discuss the protection of geological resources and sustainable geotourism.

At the event, Zhangye Colorful Danxia Scenic Spot presented its original cultural tourism mascot, Danbao. Inspired by Colorful Danxia's colored hilly landforms and hot air balloons, Danbao became a highlight of the event.

Guests visited the exhibition area of Zhangye to learn about the Danxia landform's geological evolution and view cultural creative products. Danbao plush toys and keychains drew attention, along with sand-sculpted colorful mountains, Danxia-themed fridge magnets, stationery and craft ornaments. These designs combine Danxia's colors and textures with local Silk Road culture.

Next, Zhangye Colorful Danxia will further explore its geological resources, enrich its cultural and creative product line, and deepen international exchanges through the Asia-Pacific Geoparks Network. It will also continue to promote Zhangye Danxia's international tourism image and support the high-quality development of culture and tourism in Gansu province.
