Cyclists enjoy snowy landscapes in Zhangye

The 2026 "Rainbow Zhangye, Magical Sunan" cycling event started at Bars Snow Mountain Eco-Tourism Scenic Area in Zhangye's Sunan Yugur autonomous county, Gansu province, on Oct 24.

More than 200 cycling enthusiasts from different provinces rode a 36-kilometer low-carbon route at an altitude of 3,000 meters. The route linked snow-capped mountains, vast grasslands and Yugur villages, allowing riders to enjoy sports and a healthy natural environment. The opening ceremony featured Yugur-style dancing and songs pointing to China's revolutionary past, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

A staff member from the sports center of Sunan said the event aimed to integrate natural scenery, scenic resources and a sports event brand, promoting sports, eco-tourism, and public fitness.

Xu Fan, winner of the women's group, said the course was challenging and the snow scenery very beautiful. She said she would like to join again if possible. After finishing the race, riders received memorial bags before enjoying some hot mutton soup.

In recent years, Sunan has pursued green development, strengthened the cycling event brand, hosted sports activities, and improved cycling trails and outdoor campsites.
